What will be the value of PMP certification after the pandemic?

Reviving the existing projects and starting mega capital projects are in the agenda of most of the countries to speed up economic activity. In contrast to the pre-pandemic time, the key focus areas will be cost and schedule control. The recent KPMG - PMI joint report about the status of project management in India, one of the key challenges is lack of qualified project management professionals. This challenge is not only for India, but for every other economy which wants to grow at a faster pace. All these factors points to the fact that credentials from reputed organizations like the Project Management Institute (PMI) will be in demand. 

If you are a PMP certified professional, these are the first impressions your CV is going to make to the prospective employers;

1. This person has invested time and money to enhance his / her project management credential, hence must be serious about the profession.
2. It can be assumed that he has an overall idea about professional project management.
3. His project management vocabulary will be good enough to communicate effectively with other stakeholders. 

Even before the pandemic, for most of the good opportunities in large projects, organizations were insisting for PMP or other equivalent certifications. Post Covid, the competition for good openings will be much higher, and PMP certification will surely help to compete better than without a PMP certification. Personally I know multiple cases where people with sufficient experience and degree could not apply for some jobs because PMP certification was a mandatory criteria for applying.
